Diagnostic process

Referrals can be made by Early Intervention Providers, Primary Care Physicians and Parents/Guardians.

Currently seeing children up to 8yrs of age only.
Children up to 12yrs of age will be consider if they have an IEP.

Intake consult

During this phone consultation, Dr Gomez will review diagnostic process and scheduling/insurance limitations.

A patient profile will be created and a link to create a patient portal will be emailed to parents/guardians as well as links to complete a sensory processing profile, adaptive skills and behaviors.

It is expected to have all forms completed at least 3 days before the schedule appointment

Interview

During this virtual conference we will complete an extensive, targeted interview used for diagnosing autism, planning treatment, and distinguishing autism from other developmental disorders.

Developmental evaluation

The developmental evaluation will be scheduled after the intake, during this visit, social communication and restrictive, repetitive behavior will be evaluated using a language and age appropriate systematic observation diagnostic test (ADOS-2).

A complete written report will be available after all information has been collected.

If your child does not meet the diagnostic criteria for Autism but we find other related behavioral or mental health conditions, we will create a treatment plan accordingly.

Some complex developmental cases may be a better fit for our regional autism centers at Mary Bridge or Seattle Children's.

This would include:

Children with complicated genetic conditions.
Children with multiple diagnoses, like Oppositional defiant disorder, Conduct disorder, Disruptive mood dysregulation disorder, etc.
Bipolar disorder.
Severe Anxiety/Depression not responsive to treatment.
Extensive trauma.
Families requesting a “rule-out”.
Children who have had previous evaluations for autism.
